Citi ThankYou → Avianca LifeMiles
Move points while the bonus is on — transfers can't be reversed.

At that rate, 1,000 UR becomes 1,700 Bonvoy points, so a 70,000-point award night (Reykjavik EDITION or Paris Marriott Champs-Elysees) costs about 41,200 UR points. Stack the 5th-night-free benefit and a five-night stay costs only 165,000 UR points all-in instead of 280,000 Bonvoy points transferred straight across.

Friday, October 9, 2026 — End-of-Week Update
Hey friend — here's what moved this week and what you need to act on before the weekend. As always: miles for the long-haul lie-flat seat, points for the hotel that would otherwise wreck your budget. Let's get into it.
*Accor officially unveiled Rimrock Banff, Emblems Collection on October 7 — the first North American address for its new ultra-luxury soft brand — after a $115M CAD top-to-bottom renovation of the landmark Rocky Mountain resort. It's a notable new node on the Accor Live Limitless map, but one with no points award chart and, for now, no direct U.S. route in via Amex transfer.*
Accor officially unveiled Rimrock Banff, Emblems Collection on October 7, 2026, marking the first North American property in its new ultra-luxury soft-brand collection and the reopening of a landmark Rocky Mountain resort after a $115 million CAD, ground-up renovation. For points travelers, it's a signal of where a major global chain is planting its most exclusive flags — and a reminder that getting in on points is a different game at Accor than at Marriott, Hilton or Hyatt.
Rimrock Banff sits on the slopes of Sulphur Mountain, minutes from downtown Banff, inside Banff National Park. The 320-room, 57-suite resort closed in October 2025 for a complete overhaul and reopened as Emblems Collection's second hotel worldwide, after Lucknam Park in England (late 2025). Highlights include a 9,600-square-foot Bathhouse with an infinity pool, hot pools, salt sauna and glacial cold plunges; a separate Active Centre; four dining venues; and a new "Expeditions Center" staffed by concierge-like "Pathfinders" offering 50-plus guided activities, from alpine yoga to Indigenous cultural excursions. The top suite has a 1,260-square-foot terrace. It's owned by Oxford Properties Group and rated AAA/CAA Four Diamond.
Accor hasn't published per-night award pricing (it doesn't use a traditional chart), so there's no way yet to say what a "good" points redemption looks like here. It's also unconfirmed whether the hotel will be added to American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts or Virtuoso — affiliations that would unlock guaranteed upgrades, breakfast and a hotel credit. And Accor's stated goal of 60 Emblems hotels by 2030 leaves open which North American city gets the next one.
ALL (Accor Live Limitless) doesn't do classic free-night awards. You book and pay cash, then redeem Reward points at checkout — in 2,000-point increments, worth roughly 2 cents each — to shave the bill; there's no advance award booking. Diamond elites earn up to a 100% bonus on points earned during a stay. The complication for U.S. readers: Amex Membership Rewards only transfers to ALL in Canada (2:1) and Australia/NZ (5:1) so far — there's no U.S. transfer partnership yet, so Chase, Amex or Capital One points don't move here directly.
Join ALL for free before you book — it's required to earn or redeem points, and status earned elsewhere in the Accor portfolio (Fairmont, Sofitel, Raffles) may qualify for a match. Book directly through Accor or the hotel, not an OTA, to guarantee point eligibility and your best shot at a room upgrade. Treat points as a rebate on a cash stay, not a free night, and watch for a Virtuoso or FHR listing announcement before assuming any added perks apply.

1. Chase Ultimate Rewards → Marriott Bonvoy: 70% transfer bonus — ends Thursday, October 15, 2026. This is an unusually rich bonus — 1,000 UR becomes 1,700 Bonvoy points. Full details below in This Week's Move. 2. Amex Membership Rewards → Hilton Honors: 30% transfer bonus — ends October 14, 2026. This one may be targeted (showing in-account only), so check your MR transfer page before counting on it. 3. NEW — Hilton Honors Buy Points, up to 120% bonus — launched October 7, 2026, runs through November 21. Effective cost drops to about 0.45¢/point at the max bonus, the best buy-points rate Hilton has run in a while. Useful if you're a few thousand points short of an Aspire-tier redemption.

Worth targeting with those points — straight from Thom's own live award tracker (charts last verified Sept 8, 2026):
*Heads up: Chase cut the Sapphire Preferred → World of Hyatt transfer ratio from 1:1 to 4:3 effective October 1, 2026 (confirmed via InsideFlyer and Frequent Miler) — a 25% real-world value cut for Preferred and Ink Business Preferred holders. Sapphire Reserve still transfers to Hyatt at 1:1.*
Pulled from Thom's live DFW/CHI/HOU award tracker (charts last verified September 8, 2026 — label it, it's a few weeks old, but partner charts don't move often):

Buy miles if you're close: American AAdvantage is running an ongoing miles sale of up to 40% off (tiered, 10%–40% off for 3,000–300,000 miles) — no published end date, still live as of this week. aa.com — buy miles
Business-account note (not a credit card): AAdvantage Business is offering 10,000 bonus miles for new account signups using code BNS10K, through October 31, 2026 — this corrects an earlier tracker listing that misquoted it as 15,000 miles under a different code. This is a free loyalty-account enrollment bonus, not a card, and only matters if you actually run a small business through it.
*Nothing confirmed this week on Delta flash sales, Southwest Companion Pass, or a new United premium-cabin sale — all checked and currently quiet. Alaska's 50%-off economy award sale to six cities is real but books out tomorrow (Oct 10) and is economy-only, so it's off-brief here.*
The anchor of this section is still the Amex Platinum's Resy credit: up to $100 in statement credits per quarter ($400/year), enrollment required, usable for any purchase at a Resy-partnered US restaurant when you pay with the Platinum Card — you don't need to book through Resy itself. The card also carries a $75/quarter ($300/year) lululemon credit, same enrollment requirement. Both are quarterly and do not roll over — use it or lose it by Dec 31.
Important: since August 1, 2026, being bookable on Resy is not the same as qualifying for the credit — only venues showing the "Qualifies for Resy Credit" badge count. See the Dining City Spotlight below for which of this week's picks actually qualify (✅).
| Card | Credit | Amount / Period | Works at | Enroll? | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant (Amex) | Dining credit | $25/mo ($300/yr), no rollover | Any restaurant (merchant-code based) | No enrollment found | *Unconfirmed directly against Amex's own page this week (network-blocked) — don't confuse with the separate on-property credit at Ritz-Carlton/St. Regis-tier Marriott hotels only.* |
| Marriott Bonvoy Bevy (Amex) / Boundless (Chase) | None — dining is a multiplier, not a credit | 4x (Bevy) / 3x (Boundless) at restaurants, capped annually | — | — | Don't expect a statement credit on either card |
| Hilton Honors Aspire (Amex) | Resort Credit | $200 semi-annual ($400/yr) | Room-charged dining/spa at a qualifying Hilton Resort only — paying a restaurant directly does NOT count | No extra enroll | Trigger: must charge to the room folio during a stay at a listed Hilton Resort |
| Hilton Honors Surpass (Amex) | Hotel credit | $50/quarter ($200/yr) | Any direct Hilton-property purchase (broader than Aspire) | No extra enroll | Changed Jan 31, 2026: Hilton gift-card purchases no longer count toward this credit |
| Capital One Venture X / Venture | Capital One Dining is being shut down | — | — | — | Stopped taking new bookings Sept 29, 2026; existing reservations honored through Dec 31, 2026; being replaced by "Capital One Entertainment." No dining-specific statement credit exists on these cards. |
| Citi Strata Elite | "Splurge" credit | $200/yr | NOT dining — limited to 2 of: 1stDibs, American Airlines, Best Buy, personal training, Live Nation | Must register/select | No dining credit on this card; dining itself earns 6x "Citi Nights" (Fri–Sat 6pm–6am ET) / 3x otherwise |
| Citi Strata Premier | Hotel credit only | $100 off one $500+ stay via Citi Travel/year | Not dining-specific | — | Dining earns 3x (multiplier only); a dining credit has been rumored in a Citi customer survey but is not live — don't report it as real |
| Chase Sapphire Preferred | DashPass + grocery credit | Free DashPass; up to $10/mo off ONE non-restaurant DoorDash order | Grocery/convenience only — explicitly excludes restaurant orders | Must activate DashPass in-app | DoorDash is rolling out $20 pickup-order minimums in 2026, which shrinks this benefit's real value |
| Amex Gold | Dining credit | $10/mo ($120/yr) | Grubhub, Cheesecake Factory, Five Guys, Buffalo Wild Wings, Wonder | Enrollment required in the Amex app | Goldbelly/Wine.com were listed as eligible only "through June 30, 2026" — that window has passed and we could not confirm they're still included; check your Benefits tab before counting on them |
| Amex Gold / Platinum | Uber Cash | Gold: $10/mo ($120/yr) · Platinum: $15/mo + $20 in December ($200/yr) | US Uber rides + Uber Eats | Must set the card as your Uber payment method | Doesn't roll over month to month; Platinum also carries a separate $120/yr Uber One credit |
| Amex Business Gold / Business Platinum | None confirmed | — | — | — | No dining-specific statement credit found on either card this week — treat as absent rather than guessing |
| U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve | Combined travel + dining credit | Up to $325/yr (shared pool, not dining-only) | Dining purchases including takeout/delivery count toward the same pool as travel | — | Card closed to new applicants since Nov 2024 — existing holders only |
| Wells Fargo Autograph Journey | None | — | 3x points at restaurants (multiplier only) | — | Only statement credit on this card is a $50/yr airline credit, unrelated to dining |
| Bilt Mastercard | None — multiplier, not a credit | Base 3x dining; up to ~6x+ on "Rent Day" (1st of month); stacks higher via the Bilt Dining network | Participating restaurants | Link card in Bilt Wallet to unlock the dining-network stack | Confirmed via Bilt's own terms page |
City-specific note: Capital One Dining's now-discontinued city list included Boston and Philadelphia (Bar Mezzana, Saltie Girl, Fox & the Knife, Mariel in Boston) — moot now that the program is winding down. No confirmed Hilton Aspire resort in this week's five spotlight cities; San Diego's Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach *may* qualify but we couldn't independently verify it against Hilton's current Aspire-eligible list, so we're not printing it as confirmed.
| Card | Bonus | Minimum Spend | Window | Annual Fee | Public or Targeted? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amex Platinum (personal) | Up to 175,000 MR points | $12,000 | 6 months | $895 | Public — but Amex's "as high as" structure means your personal offer may be lower |
| Chase Sapphire Preferred | 75,000 UR points | $5,000 | 3 months | $95 | Public |
| Citi Strata Premier | 60,000 ThankYou points | $4,000 | 3 months | $95 | Public |
| Bilt Palladium | 50,000 points + Bilt Gold status + $300 Bilt Cash | $4,000 (non-housing spend) | 3 months | $495 | Public |
| Amex Business Platinum *(business card)* | Up to 200,000–300,000 MR points | $20,000 | 3 months | $895 | Mostly targeted — don't expect 300K on a cold application |
| Chase Ink Business Preferred *(business card)* | 100,000 UR points | $8,000 | 3 months | $95 | Public |
Eligibility traps, plainly:
We could not confirm a current, broadly-public Amex Offer or Chase Offer (the spend-X-get-Y statement credit kind) this week — the ones we found were targeted-only, so we're leaving them out rather than presenting them as available to everyone.
*Resy-credit status (✅) pulled directly from Thom's live venue tracker, checked September 15, 2026. Michelin and Chase Sapphire Reserve dining-list status as of September 9, 2026.*
San Antonio
Boston
Philadelphia
Portland, OR *(Oregon isn't currently covered by the Michelin Guide, so no stars here — but this city doesn't need them.)*
San Diego
Being honest about San Diego: our tracker shows almost no Resy-credit-qualifying venues there this week, and the city's standout picks all book through OpenTable. If the Amex Resy credit is your target, this isn't the city to chase it in right now.
| Program | Value (cents/point) |
|---|---|
| Citi ThankYou | 1.9¢ |
| Chase Ultimate Rewards | 1.8¢ |
| Amex Membership Rewards | 1.8¢ |
| World of Hyatt | 1.55¢ |
| American AAdvantage | 1.4¢ |
| Delta SkyMiles | 1.2¢ |
| Southwest Rapid Rewards | 1.3¢ |
| Marriott Bonvoy | 0.8¢ |
| Hilton Honors | 0.5¢ |
*(World of Hyatt, Southwest, and AAdvantage reflect the August 2026 revaluations; see the note above about the separate Hyatt transfer-ratio cut, which hits Sapphire Preferred holders specifically regardless of Hyatt's own per-point value.)*
Use the 70% Chase Ultimate Rewards → Marriott Bonvoy transfer bonus before it's gone. At that rate, 1,000 UR becomes 1,700 Bonvoy points — meaning a 70,000-point award night (Reykjavik EDITION, or the Paris Marriott Champs-Élysées, both currently that price per Thom's tracker, both with 5th-night-free on award stays) costs you only about 41,200 Ultimate Rewards points instead of transferring dollar-for-dollar. Stack that with the 5th-night-free benefit and a five-night stay at a genuinely aspirational property only costs you 4 nights' worth of points — call it 165,000 UR points all-in instead of 280,000 Bonvoy points transferred straight across. The bonus is only confirmed through October 15 — six days from today — so don't sit on this one.
*Travel Point is an independent points-and-miles brief put together for personal use. Card offers, transfer bonuses, and award availability change constantly and are sometimes personalized to your account — always confirm current terms directly with the issuer, program, or airline before you apply, transfer, or book. Nothing here is financial advice, and annual fees and eligibility rules (5/24, once-per-lifetime, 48-month, and similar) can disqualify you from a bonus even when it's advertised as available.*
