September 15, 2026 · Weekly Kickoff
Hey there — your Tuesday rundown of what's actually worth your points this week. It's a big one: a 25%-off luxury hotel transfer with a four-day countdown, a fresh 70% Marriott bonus, and a Dallas-to-Auckland business class seat for less than a coach fare would cost most people. Let's get into it.
Citi ThankYou → Leaders Club (Leading Hotels of the World): 25% transfer bonus — expires Sept 19, 11:59pm ET (4 days left). This is the one to move on before you finish reading. Leading Hotels of the World is the independent-luxury club — think boutique five-stars that don't have their own points program, the kind of property that otherwise costs cash and nothing but cash. A 25% bonus stretches Citi points noticeably further at exactly those hotels. If you're sitting on ThankYou points and have a LHW property on your list, transfer before Friday.
Chase Ultimate Rewards → Marriott Bonvoy: 70% transfer bonus — expires Oct 15. Brand new this week. 1,000 UR points becomes 1,700 Bonvoy points, which is the kind of math that suddenly puts Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis and Luxury Collection properties (bloggers are pointing to Lake Como, the Maldives and New York flagship hotels) in range. Caveat, honestly: straight cents-per-point, this bonus doesn't always beat other UR redemptions — Bonvoy points are worth roughly 0.8¢ each even with the bonus, versus ~1.8¢ transferring UR elsewhere. It's a move for a *specific* aspirational award night where the cash price is high, not a blanket "always transfer" play.
Southwest sale — up to 40% off — book by Sept 17 (2 days left). Travel Oct 5, 2026–Mar 3, 2027.
IHG One Rewards — buy points with a 100% bonus, through Oct 5. Brand new today. Points cost 0.5¢ each at max bonus; purchase cap temporarily raised to 300,000 points (600,000 with the bonus). Useful if you're short for a specific IHG redemption — not a general "stock up" move, since purchased points don't count toward elite status.
| From | To | Bonus | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| Citi ThankYou | Leaders Club (LHW) | 25% | Sept 19, 2026 |
| Chase Ultimate Rewards | Marriott Bonvoy | 70% | Oct 15, 2026 |
| Amex Membership Rewards | Hilton Honors | 30% | Oct 14, 2026 |
| Amex Membership Rewards | Avios (British Airways / Iberia / Aer Lingus) | 30% | Sept 27, 2026 |
| Chase Ultimate Rewards | Air Canada Aeroplan | 20% (up to 30% for Aeroplan co-brand cardholders transferring 50k+) | Sept 30, 2026 |
| Capital One miles | JAL Mileage Bank | 30% | Sept 30, 2026 |
All six confirmed independently across at least two sources apiece. Nothing found this week from Bilt Rewards — its only September promo (up to 100% to Virgin Atlantic / Virgin Red) ran a single day and already expired.
| Program | Promo | Bonus | Stay Dates | Register |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marriott Bonvoy | More at Resorts | 1,500 pts / stay (2+ nights), +3,000 more at a resort (4,500 total) | Sept 22–Nov 22, 2026 | marriottbonvoy.com / MoreAtResorts |
| Hilton Honors | Power Up | 2,500 pts / stay, uncapped, no minimum nights | Sept 3–Dec 31, 2026 | hiltonhonors.com / PowerUp |
| World of Hyatt | Thompson Hotels 25th Anniversary | 2x base points, capped at 30,000 bonus points | Sept 8–Nov 10, 2026 | hyatt.com — register in-app |
| World of Hyatt | Hyatt Place / Select bonus (closes soon) | Up to 30,000 bonus points | Through Sept 30, 2026 | world.hyatt.com offer page |
| IHG One Rewards | Ruby Hotels Europe | 10,000 bonus pts per 2 non-consecutive nights, uncapped | Through ~Oct 21, 2026 | Check IHG's offers page in-app |
Worth calling out: the Hyatt Thompson promo is genuinely luxury-relevant — Thompson is Hyatt's upscale-lifestyle brand, and doubled points at up to 30,000 bonus is a meaningful stack if you've already got a Thompson stay booked in the window.
American AAdvantage, DFW → Auckland, Flagship Business (Dallas pick): 83,000 miles each way, nonstop on the 787 — below the 95,000-mile published South Pacific chart floor. Cash comparison: this route in business class commonly runs $10,000–15,000+ round-trip. This is the single best premium-cabin value we found from DFW this week.
United MileagePlus, Polaris Saver to Europe: from ~60,000 miles one-way on partner Star Alliance metal (United's own flights price dynamically, sometimes up to 88,000+). Cash comparison: Polaris-equivalent business fares typically run $2,000–3,500+ one-way, occasionally $5,000+. Also worth knowing: ANA's "The Room" first-class suite prices at 75,000–80,000 miles one-way, and Star Alliance business to Australia runs around 80,000 miles.
Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes: 30% off select business-class awards — book by Sept 30 for October 2026 travel. Examples: SIN–Bali / Jakarta / Kuala Lumpur / Surabaya business from 15,400 miles one-way; SIN–Bangkok / Hanoi / Ho Chi Minh City / Manila / Phuket business from 17,500 miles; SIN–Cairns business from 50,400 miles.
Cathay Pacific — $80–88 off tickets to Asia, promo codes CX80HKUS (Hong Kong) / CX80US (Asia and beyond), ends Sept 23, 2026. New members also earn bonus miles flying US / Canada to Cathay destinations.
Southwest Companion Pass: earn via 135,000 qualifying points or 100 one-way flights in a calendar year. The fastest route for most people is a co-brand card welcome bonus — the pass then covers the rest of this year plus all of next year.
Nothing to report on Delta this week — no active SkyMiles flash sale; the last one (Australia / NZ from 25k round-trip) expired in mid-July and nothing has replaced it. Worth checking delta.com's flash-sale page periodically.
Amex Platinum's Resy dining credit only counts at venues carrying Resy's own "Qualifies for Resy Credit" badge — a rule change effective August 1, 2026. Being bookable on Resy is not the same as qualifying. We pulled qualification status directly from our restaurant database this week (checked Sept 9, 2026): of 86 venues checked, 78 currently qualify and 8 do not — see the Dining City Spotlight below for which of this edition's picks carry the ✅.
| Card | Credit | Amount / Period | Where it works | Enroll? | Expiring soon? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Amex | Dining credit | $25 / mo ($300 / yr) | Any restaurant worldwide + DoorDash / Grubhub / Uber Eats | No | — |
| Hilton Honors Surpass Amex | Hilton property credit | $50 / quarter ($200 / yr) | Direct charges at Hilton-portfolio properties only — not general dining | No | — |
| Hilton Honors Aspire Amex | Resort credit | $200 semi-annual ($400 / yr) + separate $50 / quarter flight credit | Select Hilton resorts only | No | — |
| Citi Strata Elite | "Splurge" credit | $200 / yr (pick 2 of 5 categories) | Not restaurant-specific | Category selection required | — |
| Chase Sapphire Preferred | DoorDash credit | $10 / mo (~$120 / yr) | Non-restaurant DoorDash orders | DashPass enrollment required | — |
| Amex Gold | Dining credit | $10 / mo ($120 / yr) | Grubhub / Seamless, Cheesecake Factory, Five Guys, Buffalo Wild Wings, Wonder | Enrollment required | — |
| Amex Business Gold | Flexible biz credit | $20 / mo ($240 / yr) | Grubhub, FedEx, office supply stores (pick categories) | Enrollment + category choice | FedEx portion expires Oct 1, 2026 |
| Amex Business Platinum | Hotel credit only | $300 semi-annual | FHR / Hotel Collection bookings only — not dining | No | — |
| U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve | Travel / dining credit | $325 / yr | Restricted to U.S. Bank Travel Center only (changed Dec 2025) | No | Card closed to new applicants since May 2026 |
| Wells Fargo Autograph Journey | No dedicated dining credit | 3x pts dining (earning only) + $10 / mo DoorDash non-restaurant credit | DoorDash | DashPass activation | — |
| Bilt (all tiers) | Not a statement credit | 1–3x elevated points at "Neighborhood Dining" partners only | Wallet-linked partners | Wallet linking | — |
| Capital One Venture X / Venture | No dedicated dining credit | Capital One Dining is event / presale access, not cash back | — | — | — |
How to actually trigger the fiddly ones: Chase Sapphire Preferred's and Wells Fargo Autograph Journey's DoorDash credits require DashPass enrollment *and* paying with the card directly at checkout — Apple Pay / Google Pay won't trigger it, and it's one order per month with no rollover. Amex Gold's dining credit requires enrolling the specific benefit in the Amex app before your first purchase — it doesn't apply retroactively.
| Card | Bonus | Min Spend / Window | Annual Fee | Public or Targeted |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chase Sapphire Preferred | 75,000 points | $5,000 / 3 months | $95 | ✅ Public |
| Chase Sapphire Reserve | 100,000 points | $6,000 / 3 months | $795 | ✅ Public |
| Citi Strata Premier | 60,000 ThankYou points | $4,000 / 3 months | $95 | ✅ Public |
| Capital One Venture X | 75,000 miles | $4,000 / 3 months | $395 | ✅ Public |
| Bilt Palladium | 50,000 points + Bilt Gold status + $300 Bilt Cash | $4,000 / 3 months | $495 | ✅ Public |
| Amex Platinum | Up to 175,000 Membership Rewards | $12,000 / 6 months | $895 | 🎯 Targeted / personalized — not a guaranteed public rate |
| Amex Gold | Up to 100,000 Membership Rewards | $8,000 / 6 months | $325 | 🎯 Targeted / personalized (public baseline is lower, ~60,000) |
| *Chase Ink Business Preferred (business)* | 100,000 points | $8,000 / 3 months | $95 | ✅ Public — business card, doesn't count against personal 5 / 24 |
| *Amex Business Platinum (business)* | Up to 300,000 points | $20,000 / 3 months | $895 | 🎯 Targeted / personalized |
A note on the Amex Platinum and Gold figures above: several trackers show these as the current headline number, but Amex increasingly shows offers only after you've started an application and they're personalized per prospect — treat them as "what some people are seeing," not a guaranteed public rate. We could not confirm a broadly-available Amex Offer or Chase Offer (the spend-X-get-Y statement credit type) this week; both programs now run almost entirely personalized per account, so check your own app rather than assuming.
Eligibility traps, in plain language:
This edition's rotation lands on Group 1 of our 20-city pool. Credit-badge (✅) status below comes straight from our restaurant database's Resy-credit check, last run September 9, 2026 — treat it as accurate as of that date. Michelin and CSR (Chase Sapphire Reserve dining list) status pulled from the same database, also as of Sept 9.
🇺🇸 Dallas — Lucia. Bib Gourmand, and it carries the ✅ Resy-credit badge. Small, warm, Italian-leaning menu that's been a Dallas mainstay for exactly the reason Michelin flags it — quality without the fuss. Home airport, easy win.
New York City — Saga. Two Michelin stars, and it qualifies ✅ for the Amex Resy credit — genuinely rare to find a 2-star that clears the bar. Perched on the 63rd floor at 70 Pine, tasting-menu format. If you're using the Resy credit anywhere fancy this quarter, this is the one to book. Runners-up that also carry the ✅ badge: Torrisi (1 star) and Le Coucou (1 star).
Los Angeles — Camphor. Michelin Selected and ✅ Resy-credit qualifying — Cambodian-French cooking in the Arts District that's been on critics' shortlists for a couple of years running. Worth flagging plainly: LA's overlap between our Resy-credit list and Michelin / CSR-recognized venues is thin this week — Camphor is the only clean match we could confirm, so we're not padding this city with a second pick.
Chicago — Monteverde. Michelin Selected, ✅ Resy-credit qualifying. West Loop pasta destination, reliably one of the harder reservations in the city.
Miami — L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon. Two Michelin stars and ✅ Resy-credit qualifying — the standout pick of the whole edition. Design District counter-dining format, the kind of place that's genuinely hard to get into on points value alone; the Resy credit just makes it a little less painful. Also qualifying: COTE Miami (1 star) and Boia De (1 star), both solid backups if L'Atelier is booked out.
No changes to flag this week — every program is holding at the levels in the cheat sheet below. One honest caveat: outside trackers are currently running noticeably hotter than our figures on Chase Ultimate Rewards and Amex Membership Rewards (over 2¢ / point on some pages). We keep our numbers more conservative on purpose, since most readers won't consistently hit the ceiling redemptions those trackers assume — but it's worth knowing if you're comparing notes elsewhere.
| Program | Value per point |
|---|---|
| Citi ThankYou Points | 1.9¢ |
| Chase Ultimate Rewards | 1.8¢ |
| Amex Membership Rewards | 1.8¢ |
| World of Hyatt | 1.55¢ |
| American AAdvantage | 1.4¢ |
| Southwest Rapid Rewards | 1.3¢ |
| Delta SkyMiles | 1.2¢ |
| Marriott Bonvoy | 0.8¢ |
| Hilton Honors | 0.5¢ |
Transfer Citi ThankYou points to Leaders Club before Friday, Sept 19. The 25% bonus is the best-timed, most purely luxury-aligned move on the board this week — Leading Hotels of the World properties are independent five-stars with no loyalty program of their own, so this is one of the only ways points touch them at all. If you don't hold Citi ThankYou points but do hold Chase Ultimate Rewards, the runner-up move is the fresh 70% bonus to Marriott Bonvoy (through Oct 15) — just save it for a specific high-value Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis or Luxury Collection night rather than transferring speculatively.
