Tuesday, October 6, 2026 — Weekly Kickoff

Hey there — your friend in the points world here with the full lay of the land. Grab a coffee, this one's got a historic transfer bonus, a Qatar Qsuites sweet spot from your home airport, and five new dining cities. Let's get into it.

✈️ WHAT'S HOT — ACT FAST

These expire soonest, so don't sit on them:

  • Amex Membership Rewards → Hilton Honors, +30% transfer bonus — ends October 14 (8 days). 1,000 MR points become 2,600 Hilton points.
  • Chase Ultimate Rewards → Marriott Bonvoy, +70% transfer bonus — ends October 15. This is a *record* bonus for this pairing (the best ever offered), turning 1,000 UR into 1,700 Bonvoy points. If you've got a St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton, or EDITION stay in mind, this is the week.
  • Hilton Honors "More Points to Play" — registration is open now for stays October 15–December 31. Register before your next Hilton stay, not after.

Amex Membership RewardsAir France-KLM Flying Blue+25%1,000 → 1,250Oct 31, 2026

A word on the Marriott bonus: even at 70%, Bonvoy points land around 1.24 cents each by our math — good, not great, compared to some airline transfers. The reason to move anyway is the redemption, not the rate: Bonvoy's luxury tier (Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, EDITION, W) is where the real value shows up, especially off-peak.

🏨 HOTEL PROMOTIONS

Hilton Honors — "More Points to Play" Register at HiltonHonors.com/MorePointsToPlay before your stay. Stays October 15–December 31, 2026 earn 1,000 bonus points per stay at most Hilton brands, or 3,000 bonus points per stay at luxury, lifestyle, resort, or all-inclusive properties (Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, LXR, etc.). No cap on how many times you can earn it.

World of Hyatt — Q4 Global Promotion Register (free) through the World of Hyatt app or site before your first eligible stay; registration window runs through December 15, 2026. Earn 3,000 bonus points for every 3 qualifying nights (they don't need to be consecutive), up to 36,000 points. Award stays count, and it's valid at Hyatt hotels and resorts, Mr & Mrs Smith properties, The Venetian Resort, and Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt. Stays must be booked directly with Hyatt.

🛫 AIRLINE SWEET SPOTS

Qatar Airways Qsuites, DFW → Doha: 70,000 AAdvantage miles one-way (off-peak saver) This is the sweet spot of the week, and it's right out of your home airport. American's partner chart prices Qatar's Qsuites business class — the industry's benchmark lie-flat suite, with closing doors and double beds on some aircraft — at 70,000 AAdvantage miles one-way during off-peak dates (some dates run the peak rate of 94,500 miles). Cash fares on this exact route regularly run $4,000+ one-way, so you're looking at roughly a quarter of the cash price in miles. The trick is availability — Qatar is stingy releasing Qsuites award seats, so when you see it, book it.

Flying Blue Promo Rewards — October 2026 Air France-KLM's monthly award discount takes 25% off selected routes, bookable through October 31 for travel through March 31, 2027. Sample business-class pricing this month: Seattle–Mexico City from 45,000 miles. Long-haul promo fares route through Paris or Amsterdam and use the restrictive Light fare, so check the terms before booking an uncancellable ticket.

Thin this week: We didn't find a confirmable Delta SkyMiles flash sale or United MileagePlus premium-cabin sale with two independent sources as of today — Delta's current Seattle promotion is a cash fare sale, not a miles deal, so it's left out here. Southwest Companion Pass and AAdvantage's standard off-peak domestic business chart (25,000 miles one-way) are unchanged from recent weeks.

How to trigger the fiddly ones: Chase Sapphire Reserve's DoorDash credits require activating the complimentary DashPass membership in your DoorDash account first — the credits won't apply otherwise. The Amex Platinum Resy credit only posts if the restaurant shows the green "Qualifies for Resy Credit" badge on the Resy listing *at the time you pay* — it can change.

Eligibility traps:

  • Chase 5/24 blocks the Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, and both IHG cards if you've opened 5+ personal cards (any bank) in the last 24 months.
  • Chase once-per-lifetime rule: if you've ever had a welcome bonus on a specific Sapphire product, you can't earn it again on that same product.
  • Amex once-per-lifetime per card: Platinum and Gold bonuses are typically limited to once ever per card, tracked across your whole Amex relationship.
  • Citi/Capital One ~48-month rules: the AAdvantage Executive and Venture X both require you not to have received that card's bonus in the last 48 months.

The best *consumer* offer this week is the Citi AAdvantage Executive at 125,000 miles — it's genuinely public, carries real luxury perks (Admirals Club membership, Omni Hotels Champion status, a $500 AA Vacations credit), and isn't gated behind targeting. The 200K IHG Business offer is bigger on paper, but remember: most readers can't use a business card, so it's listed last, not first.

🍴 DINING CITY SPOTLIGHT: Austin, Seattle, Denver, Washington DC & Aspen

*A reminder on the Amex Resy credit: since August 1, 2026, being bookable on Resy isn't enough — a venue has to show the "Qualifies for Resy Credit" badge. Where we mark ✅ below, that's pulled directly from Thom's own credit-tracking database, not guesswork. Database dining data (Michelin ratings, Sapphire Reserve dining-list status, and Resy-credit badges) was last refreshed September 9–15, 2026 — current enough to trust, but check the badge yourself before you book, since it's the kind of thing that can flip.*

Austin

  • Odd Duck ✅ *Qualifies for Resy Credit* — Michelin Bib Gourmand. Confirmed qualifying Sept 9.
  • Hestia — One Michelin star, on the Chase Sapphire Reserve dining list. Books via OpenTable, not Resy, so the Amex credit doesn't apply here.

Seattle

  • Lark Restaurant — On the Sapphire Reserve dining list; James Beard pedigree (founding chef Jason Wilson, multiple Beard nominations/wins for the Pacific Northwest region).
  • Takai by Kashiba — Acclaimed sushi omakase, also on the Sapphire Reserve dining list.
  • Worth knowing: Seattle has no Michelin Guide coverage — Michelin hasn't published a guide that includes the city, so you won't find a star rating here regardless of quality. And we found zero Seattle venues in Thom's Resy-credit tracker, so credit-badge status for any Seattle pick is unverified this week — check on Resy directly before you book expecting the credit.

Denver

  • The Wolf's Tailor — Two Michelin stars, the top pick in this group. Resy-credit status not found in the database — verify directly.
  • Safta ✅ *Qualifies for Resy Credit* — Michelin Selected, from James Beard Award-winning chef Alon Shaya. Confirmed qualifying Sept 9.

Washington DC

  • The Dabney ✅ *Qualifies for Resy Credit* — One Michelin star. Confirmed qualifying Sept 15 (the freshest check in this edition).
  • Rose's Luxury ✅ *Qualifies for Resy Credit* — One Michelin star. Confirmed qualifying Sept 9.
  • Jônt — Two Michelin stars, also on the Sapphire Reserve dining list and bookable on Resy — but it didn't turn up in the credit-tracking database, so we can't confirm the credit badge. Worth checking directly; it's the strongest Michelin pick in this group.

Aspen

  • Bosq — Aspen's only Michelin-starred restaurant (one star), bookable on Resy.
  • Element 47, inside The Little Nell (Aspen's original Forbes Five-Star hotel) — Michelin-recommended, books direct through the hotel rather than Resy.
  • Aspen doesn't appear in Thom's dining database at all yet, so none of this is database-verified — both picks are sourced fresh from the web this week, and Resy-credit status for Bosq is unconfirmed.

📊 VALUATION CHANGES

No new shifts of 0.1¢ or more identified this week beyond what's already baked into the cheat sheet below (the August 2026 revisions to World of Hyatt, Southwest Rapid Rewards, and American AAdvantage). Worth flagging anyway: Frequent Miler's analysis this week pegs Wyndham points (not one of our nine tracked programs) down 10–15% after a chart overhaul — a reminder that hotel devaluations are still very much in motion industry-wide.

🎯 THIS WEEK'S MOVE

Book Qatar Airways Qsuites business class from DFW to Doha for 70,000 AAdvantage miles (off-peak saver pricing). It's one of the best lie-flat redemptions available from your home airport right now — roughly a quarter of the $4,000+ one-way cash fare for a cabin that rivals first class on most airlines. Qsuites award space is notoriously tight, so if AA.com shows it, grab it before you overthink it. If you want a second move: the Chase Ultimate Rewards → Marriott Bonvoy 70% transfer bonus closes Oct 15 and is a career-best rate for anyone sitting on UR points with a Ritz-Carlton or St. Regis stay in mind.
