Tuesday, October 20, 2026 — Weekly Kickoff

Hey friend — here's everything live in points and miles this week, with a lens toward the good stuff: premium cabins, properties worth bragging about, and the Michelin/James Beard/CSR-recognized tables in this edition's five rotating dining cities. Let's get into it.

✈️ WHAT'S HOT — ACT FAST

This week's section is intentionally short — nothing else cleared the "brand new or expiring inside 7 days" bar without being a coach-only fare sale, which isn't our beat.

  • NEW (launches Oct 22, 2026): Amex Business Platinum gets a free ZO by Tishman Speyer club membership. Starting this Thursday, eligible U.S. Business Platinum and Corporate Platinum cardholders get complimentary ZO membership — lounge + coworking access — plus up to $500/year in statement credits toward event-space bookings or a ZO Dining Club membership. No extra annual fee. (Doctor of Credit, Danny Deal Guru)

💳 TRANSFER BONUSES LIVE RIGHT NOW

FromToBonusEndsNotes
Amex Membership RewardsAir France-KLM Flying Blue+25%Oct 31, 2026 (date varies slightly by source; confirm on your transfer screen)100,000 MR → 125,000 Flying Blue miles. Flying Blue prices SkyTeam partner business class by distance band, so this is real money toward Delta/Air France/Korean Air lie-flat seats.
Amex Membership RewardsAeromexico Rewards+20%Started Oct 1, 2026; running "for a limited time in October" — exact end date wasn't consistently reported, so verify before transferringNew-ish partner; useful mainly for Aeromexico's own partner awards.

Expired, don't bother: Amex MR→Hilton Honors (30%, ended Oct 14) and Chase UR→Marriott Bonvoy (70%, ended Oct 15) both just closed. If you were sitting on either, you missed it by days — set a calendar alert for next time.

No live Chase, Citi, Capital One, or Bilt transfer bonuses confirmed this week. Section's thin — nothing padded in.

🏨 HOTEL PROMOTIONS

ProgramWhatRegistrationStay DatesLink
Hilton Honors"More Points to Play" — 3,000 bonus points per stay at luxury/lifestyle/resort/all-inclusive Hilton properties (1,000 at other brands), no cap on staysRegister before checkoutOct 15 – Dec 31, 2026hilton.com promo page · register at HiltonHonors.com/MorePointstoPlay

World of Hyatt: nothing new to register for this week — the summer bonus-points promo closed Sept 1, and the only live mechanic is a standing 500-points-per-night bonus at newly added hotels (no registration needed), running through Oct 30. Not worth a special trip.

Marriott Bonvoy & IHG One Rewards: nothing we could confirm with two independent sources this week. (We saw a report of an IHG Ambassador 10,000-point buy-status offer, but it was single-sourced and flagged as possibly targeted, so we're leaving it out rather than promise something you might not see.)

🛫 AIRLINE SWEET SPOTS

The luxury-relevant redemptions we could verify this week, all against two sources where possible:

  • American AAdvantage → Japan Airlines business class, 60,000 miles one-way, from any AA hub including DFW. AA's partner chart is fixed even as AA-operated flights price dynamically — JAL business is one of the last stable "sweet spots" on the chart. Watch this one; Thrifty Traveler flags a real risk AA raises it to match a recent JAL-side increase. (Thrifty Traveler, AwardTravelFinder chart)
  • Citi ThankYou → Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, business class to Tokyo, 55,000 miles one-way — slightly cheaper than AA's own chart for the same cabin, and transfers from Citi Strata Premier/Elite points. Also: Miami–Madrid round-trip on American metal for 85,000 miles total via JAL Mileage Bank. (Thrifty Traveler Citi guide)
  • Bilt Rewards adds JetBlue TrueBlue as a new 1:1 transfer partner. Skip it for JetBlue's own flights — the real value is partner awards: Condor business class, East Coast to Frankfurt, from 54,000 points each way, or Qatar Airways business to Doha from 90,000 points. No transfer bonus yet, but Bilt's Nov 1 Rent Day makes one plausible — nothing confirmed, so don't transfer speculatively. (Frequent Miler, View from the Wing)
  • Delta SkyMiles: no live flash sale we could confirm as of today — SkyMiles runs fully dynamic pricing with no published chart, and the sales we found had deadlines that already passed. Set a price alert rather than chase a stale blog post.

From the deals database (⚠️ last verified Sep 8–9, 2026 — over 40 days old, treat as a planning reference, not today's live price):

  • DFW/HOU/CHI → Europe in business class: Aeroplan fixed partner chart, 60,000–75,000 miles (Lufthansa/ANA/Turkish/EVA), or Miles & More, 55,000 miles from HOU/CHI to Athens/Naples/Rome-area partners.
  • World of Hyatt redemptions worth knowing (Category chart, 4 nights): Park Hyatt Dubai, 80,000 points (20,000/night, Category 5) and Hyatt Regency Kyoto, 60,000 points (15,000/night, Category 4) — both well under cash rates for that tier of property.

DINING CREDITS BY CARD

CardCreditAmount / PeriodWhere It WorksEnroll?Expires / Notes
Amex Platinum (personal)Resy credit$100/quarter ($400/yr)U.S. Resy restaurantsYesStanding benefit. How to trigger it: enroll in the Amex app, then pay with the Platinum at any Resy-bookable restaurant that shows the "Qualifies for Resy Credit" badge — being Resy-bookable alone isn't enough (see Dining City Spotlight below).
Amex Platinum (personal)FHR/Hotel Collection credit$300 semi-annual ($600/yr)Prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection (2-night min) bookings via Amex TravelNoNot dining per se, but routinely funds the hotel's signature restaurant tab.
Amex GoldDining credit$10/month ($120/yr)Grubhub, The Cheesecake Factory, Five Guys, Buffalo Wild Wings, WonderYesGoldbelly and Wine.com were dropped in Amex's April 2026 refresh — don't plan around them. Cap is shared across all merchants, not per-merchant.
Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant (Amex)Dining credit$25/month ($300/yr)Restaurants worldwide, any merchant coded as diningNoOne of the more flexible dining credits out there — not tied to a platform or partner list.
Chase Sapphire ReserveDoorDash credit$15/month (was $5, raised Oct 1, 2026) + two separate $10/month non-restaurant promosAny eligible DoorDash order, restaurant or notActivate DashPass via the Chase benefits portalUp to ~$420/yr in restaurant credit alone; doesn't roll over. Note: this increase is Reserve only — we found no matching change on Sapphire Preferred.
Hilton Honors Aspire (Amex)Daily F&B creditDaily, U.S.At the hotel, as an alternative to complimentary breakfastNoNot a flat dollar credit — it's a replacement for the breakfast benefit, property-dependent.
Hilton Honors Surpass (Amex)————No dedicated dining credit. Its $50/quarter credit is for purchases made directly with Hilton properties, not restaurants. Dining only earns 7x points here.
Capital One Venture X————No dining-specific credit. The $300 annual credit is for Capital One Travel bookings. Dining earn rate is reported inconsistently across sources (2x–3x) — we couldn't confirm the current multiplier, so check your Guide to Benefits.
Citi Strata Elite"Splurge" credit$200/yrNOT dining — a retail merchant list (American Airlines, Best Buy, Live Nation, 1stDibs, etc.)Yes, pick 2 merchantsDining itself just earns bonus points: 3x normally, 6x Fri/Sat nights 6pm–6am ET.
Wells Fargo Autograph Journey————No dining credit — 3x points on dining is an earn-rate perk, not a credit.
U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve————Reportedly removed its travel/dining credit as of Dec 15, 2025 (single-source — flag and verify if you hold this card).
Bilt Mastercard————Dining earns bonus points, not a statement credit — and the card changed issuers in early 2026, so even the multiplier needs re-confirming.

Eligibility traps to know before you apply:

  • Chase 5/24 — if you've opened 5+ personal cards (any bank) in the last 24 months, Chase will auto-deny you, business cards included on some.
  • Amex once-per-lifetime bonus rule — you generally can't earn the welcome bonus on the same card product twice, ever, even after closing and reopening.
  • Citi 48-month rule — you can't earn a new welcome bonus on a Citi card if you've gotten one on that same card (or sometimes a similar one) in the past 48 months.
  • The Amex Platinum figure above is personalized — don't assume you'll see 175,000; it's shown only in-app after you apply.

🍴 DINING CITY SPOTLIGHT: Austin, Seattle, Denver, Washington DC & Philadelphia

*Database note: this edition rotates through 5 of a 20-city pool (see the note at the very bottom on this quarter's rotation). Michelin/CSR/James Beard data below comes from Thom's database and was last refreshed September 9–16, 2026 — over a month old, so treat distinctions as "still true as of mid-September" rather than today. The ✅ Resy-credit badge comes straight from the `spots` collection's own venue-level check, not a guess.*

Austin — Three Michelin one-stars worth the trip: Craft Omakase (sushi), Barley Swine (also a Resy Hit List regular), and Hestia (also on the Chase Sapphire Reserve dining list, bookable via OpenTable). None of Austin's Michelin set showed up with a confirmed Resy-credit badge in the database check — if you're chasing the Amex Resy credit specifically here, you'll need to look elsewhere this trip.

Seattle — No Michelin Guide covers Seattle, so there's no star rating to report here, full stop. What Seattle does have: two 2026 James Beard Award nominees for Best Chef, Northwest & Pacific — Atoma (chef Johnny Courtney) and Surrell (chef Aaron Tekulve) — plus The Pink Door, a long-running Italian spot on the Chase Sapphire Reserve dining list. None showed a qualifying Resy-credit badge.

Denver — The strongest Michelin showing of the five: The Wolf's Tailor holds 2 Michelin stars, the top rating in this edition's lineup. Also notable: Alma Fonda Fina (1 star, CSR-listed, and a 2026 James Beard nominee for chef Johnny Curiel) and Frasca Food & Wine in nearby Boulder (1 star, CSR-listed). No confirmed ✅ Resy-credit badges in Denver this check.

Washington DC — Also a 2-star city: Jônt (CSR-listed). And this is where the Resy credit badge actually shows up twice: Rose's Luxury (1 star) and The Dabney (1 star, also a Resy Hit List pick) both carry the ✅ "Qualifies for Resy Credit" badge in the database — book either on Resy with an Amex Platinum and the $100 quarterly credit applies.

Philadelphia — A genuinely deep bench: Her Place Supper Club (1 star, CSR-listed, and a 2026 James Beard nominee for chef Amanda Shulman) and Friday Saturday Sunday (1 star, CSR-listed) lead the fine-dining side. For something looser, Philly's Bib Gourmand trio — Dizengoff, Pizzeria Beddia, and Sally — all three carry the ✅ Resy-credit badge, making Philly this edition's best city for stacking the Amex Resy credit against a casual, genuinely good meal.

📉 VALUATION CHANGES

No program's cents-per-point value moved ≥0.1¢ against our reference set this week.

The one real valuation story is structural, not a cents-per-point change: Chase quietly cut its Ultimate Rewards→World of Hyatt transfer ratio from 1:1 to 4:3 for Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred cardholders, effective October 1, 2026 (Sapphire Reserve keeps 1:1). That doesn't change Hyatt's own 1.55¢ value — it changes how many Hyatt points your Chase points actually become. Full writeup in this edition's trending story below.

🎯 THIS WEEK'S MOVE

If you're sitting on a stash of Amex Membership Rewards points and have any SkyTeam business-class trip on your radar — Air France, KLM, Delta, Korean Air — transfer to Flying Blue now at the 25% bonus, before it closes around October 31. On 100,000 MR points that's 125,000 Flying Blue miles, which gets you meaningfully closer to a lie-flat seat to Europe or Asia than the standard 1:1 rate ever will. Once points land in Flying Blue they can't come back, so only move what you're confident you'll use.

📰 TRENDING THIS WEEK: Chase Cuts Its Best Hotel Transfer Partner

See the full story in this edition's Trending section — Chase has dropped its Ultimate Rewards→World of Hyatt transfer ratio from 1:1 to 4:3, tied to Hyatt's May 2026 award chart overhaul. If you were banking Chase points specifically to reach Hyatt, the math on that plan just changed.

*Dining-city rotation note: this quarter's 20-city pool and the formula for picking each edition's 5 cities are maintained in this routine's own configuration.
